The Siba Scholarship Fund

A group of volunteers have come together to form the not-for-profit Siba Scholarship Fund (SSF), which raises money to help deserving Siba students fulfill their educational goals. There is no deadline to apply for the scholarship.

Community Scholarships

Siba encourages its students to apply for outside scholarships to help cover their tuition. The list below includes local scholarships offered through a variety of trusted organizations. Applicants should fully review the organization’s website for additional requirements before applying. Students may also consider online resources such as Fastweb.com for additional opportunities. Please check this list often – it is updated as new scholarships become available.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, DREAM Scholarship

  • Amount: $1000
  • Deadline: mid-April
  • Eligibility: Need-based scholarship.
    • Student must complete FAFSA and demonstrate financial need.
    • Applicants are required to have a 2.0 GPA.
    • Recipient should be a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours) attending an accredited 4-year or 2-year college.
  • To apply: Download application from website. Two letters of recommendation, a 500-word essay on volunteer experience, and a current official transcript are required for the application. Mail completed scholarship application and supporting documents to:

Federated Republican Women’s Club of St. Louis Scholarship Essay

  • Amount: $500
  • Deadline: May 1st
  • Eligibility: Open to female high school seniors, and college freshman and sophomores living in the St. Louis City or County.
  • To apply: Applicants must contact Elise Kostial at elisekostial@gmail.com to receive the detailed instructions and applicant agreement. A 1,000 to 1,500 word essay is required.

Greater East St. Louis Community Fund Scholarship Program

  • Amount: $1000
  • Deadline: Mid-April
  • Eligibility: High school seniors who are legal residents of East St. Louis or Brooklyn, Illinois and have achieved a 2.5 GPA.

Goedeckers Appliances Scholarships

  • Two Scholarship opportunities: one is open to all student applicants, the other for Public Service families. Review the website for details.
  • Amount: $500
  • Deadline: July 31st
  • Eligibility: Any student who is enrolled in an accredited college is eligible to participate.
    • Any major or field of study is acceptable.
    • High school seniors that are enrolled in an accredited college, either for a dual credit program or for an upcoming semester, are eligible to enter as well.
  • To apply: Write an essay about why attending college and your field of study are important to you.
    • These will be judged based on originality, creativity, organization of thought, and proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
    • Essay must be a minimum of 300 words.
    • Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and proof they are enrolled in an accredited college for the spring 2015 semester.

SLAHA

  • Amount: $2500
  • Deadline: April 29
  • Eligibility: Enrolled as a freshman or sophomore at a two or four year institution. Have a minimum of a 2.25 overall grade point average. Be a United States citizen or permanent U.S. resident. Must be enrolled full time (minimum 9 hours) for the next academic year (both semesters)

St. Louis Graduates Scholarship

  • Amount: $1000
  • Deadline: mid-April
  • Eligibility: High school seniors from the St. Louis region who are first-generation college students with demonstrated financial need, attending full-time at an accredited U.S. college or university.

Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis Leslie Scholarship

  • Amount: Not specified
  • Deadline: mid-February
  • Eligibility: Open to individuals who are residents of the St. Louis metropolitan area, no older than 24 years old at the time of application, and participate in over 60 hours of a community/volunteer activity.
